Client Testimonial:

“The not-to-exceed estimates were a big lifesaver. The couple I worked for were moving in order to retire, and with the costs of treating his illnesses, it was important to budget carefully. The not-to-exceed estimate made sure we wouldn’t be unpleasantly surprised by the final cost. We actually got a refund when all was said and done. Can you believe that? I didn’t think refunds ever happened, but sure enough, we got a check in the mail after the move was complete.”

Moving A Wine Cellar?
Do it the Right Way!

As America’s fascination with wine continues to grow wine cellars do also. Wine enthusiasts who have built their wine libraries and cellars find they have unique challenges when they need to move to a new home. Wine is a fickle liquid! When it is cared for properly the results can be exquisite. When it is mishandled the results can be disastrous. For this reason owners of wine cellars dread moving their collections. When several hundred bottles of considerable value are being moved to a new location is it really worth risking loss by having them moved incorrectly?

Some factors that need to be considered when moving wine:

  • Temperature- Wine must be kept at a consistent and controlled temperature. Wine that is kept too warm will deteriorate very quickly. Bottles that get very warm can even pop their corks.
  • Moisture- In normal storage of wine humidity is an important ingredient for cork freshness. During a move, however, keeping moisture away from bottles is probably just as important. Wine labels that have been damaged by moisture lose significant value if they have been purchased for investment purposes.
  • Stability—Wine should not be “jiggled” or “bumped” unnecessarily. Insulation during a move is essential.
  • Darkness and Light—Wine should not be exposed to bright light and should be kept in darkness.
